Why Investing in the Next Generation Begins with Strong, Foundations with Rooted & Growing

Let’s begin with one essential truth: children matter deeply to God. Jesus Himself made this unmistakably clear when He said in Matthew 19:14,
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

In this moment, Jesus wasn’t merely welcoming children—He was correcting His disciples, instructing them to make room for the young ones, not push them aside. He elevated children as precious bearers of the Kingdom.
This calling didn’t begin in the New Testament. Throughout the Old Testament, God repeatedly commanded His people to pass down His truth, His works, and His faithfulness to the generations that would come after them.
Psalm 78:4 declares: “We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord.” And in Deuteronomy 6:1–9—especially verses 7–9—God emphasizes the daily rhythm of discipleship: “Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Teaching the next generation isn’t a suggestion—it’s a command from the Lord. It is our responsibility and our privilege to raise children in the knowledge of God, His Word, and His ways.
Why This Generation Needs Strong Foundations More Than Ever
Every generation faces challenges, but Generation Alpha is growing up in a world unlike any before:
Constant digital distraction
Rising loneliness and anxiety
Exposure to unfiltered online information
Confusion in identity, purpose, and truth
A rapidly changing culture that competes for their attention and worldview
These pressures can easily weaken—or completely disconnect—a child from the things of God unless the Church steps in with strength, clarity, and intentionality.
To reach this generation effectively, faith communities must:
Provide relevant, multi-format biblical content
Teach critical thinking and discernment
Foster community, belonging, and emotional intelligence
Build coping skills rooted in Scripture
Help children connect God’s Word with their daily experiences
Children need more than entertainment. They need more than Bible story “snippets.” They need the whole counsel of God, taught clearly, beautifully, and consistently.
Because the Kingdom of God must continue to advance—until the return of Jesus.
If we want to raise a generation that knows God, loves God, and walks in His ways, then we must be intentional, strategic, and invested. Strong foundations don’t appear by accident—they are built with prayer, purpose, and partnership.
That’s where Rooted & Growing plays a vital role.
Rooted & Growing exists to help churches build strong, lasting foundations in the next generation through biblically rich curriculum and intentional volunteer support. We equip ministries with whole-Scripture lessons, age-appropriate activities, storytelling tools, and practical classroom strategies that make teaching God’s Word simple, engaging, and spiritually formative. Our goal is to ensure every child receives a clear, meaningful understanding of Scripture and every volunteer feels confident, prepared, and equipped to disciple young hearts.
But building these foundations requires intentional investment from ministry leaders. Churches must be willing to invest time in training volunteers, finances in quality resources, and effort in equipping their teams with the tools they need to serve effectively. Children’s ministry cannot be viewed as childcare—it is a mission field. When leaders prioritize vision, preparation, and discipleship, they create a thriving environment where volunteers feel supported and children grow deeper in their understanding of God.
If you desire a church that thrives in the next decade, you must disciple the children sitting in classrooms today.
If you want teens who are grounded in truth, you must reach them as kids.
If you want adults who stand firm in faith, you must build strong foundations early.
This is why partnering with Rooted & Growing isn’t just helpful—it’s strategic.
If your church is ready to strengthen its foundation, equip its volunteers, and invest intentionally in the next generation, Rooted & Growing is here to partner with you. Let’s build a children’s ministry that plants deep roots, nurtures genuine faith, and shapes lifelong disciples—starting today.
